Commitment, Acceptance, Security, and Attunement: These are the foundation of Lake House.

Lake House is a place of building relationships, and our focus on healthy relationships is present in every aspect of providing lasting change for our students and families.

Our program uses research-based evidence from interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory to promote self-development and enhance emotional regulation. This allows us to address maladaptive behaviors using appropriate boundaries and improve the emotional well-being of the family as a whole.

We employ the use of measurable outcomes to individualize treatment, guide therapy, and increase student privileges.

Those who struggle with relationships, emotional regulation, cognition, or sensory awareness often have an imbalance in the brain and nervous system.

Emotional Regulation

We understand the power of gaining skills to achieve the goal of self-regulation for each student. Our foundation is strongly rooted in relationships, and this includes developing a strong and stable relationship with one's self.

We help our students develop emotional regulations using DBT mindfulness, TS-CBT, and REBT approaches. Research guides our understanding of the power of grounding techniques, breathing exercises, reframing negative thinking patterns, and interpersonal skill building.

Attachment-Based Therapy

Lake House uses Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), an attachment-focused therapy, to address complex trauma and other attachment issues.

DDP is relational in its approach, meaning both a child and caregiver are actively involved in the intervention. The goal is to increase emotional awareness and regulation while improving the child-caregiver relationship. By increasing security and safety in this relationship, exploration and healing can begin.

Time is built into each day for individual, group, and/or family therapy. This allows us to prioritize academics just as we emphasize clinical therapy. Our approach blends research-based therapeutic modalities with sensory and cognitive processing to develop students into successful lifelong learners.

Individualized Learning Plans

We create an Individualized Academic Plan (IAP) for each student based on the student’s records, including school transcripts, report cards, neuropsychological tests, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and 504 plans. This document evolves during the student's stay to guide informed decision-making and support academic growth.

Core Classes & Electives

We are academically accredited by NIPSA and Congia to get and keep students on track for grades 5 through 10. Our classrooms have an average size of 8 to 12 students and offer a wide range of core classes and skill-building electives.

We create a Master Treatment Plan for each student based on their academic and therapeutic treatment goals. Our team monitors students' progress to verify they meet the measurable outcomes outlined in this plan, ensuring success and growth.
