At the end of last year, Lake House Academy participated in a food drive competition among our other InnerChange programs. At Lake House, we collected over 1,000 food items, which came out to about 18 donations per person, including donations from guests and families. To make the contest more interesting, we committed to having some of our staff would jump into the freezing cold lake for a “polar bear plunge” if we won. One of the other programs wager’s was to shave their Executive Director’s beard like Seneca from The Hunger Games. Fortunately for the beard, we won the food drive contest – unfortunately for our polar bear plungers we won.
