The History of Lake House Academy

Lake House Academy opened its doors as a therapeutic boarding school in 2010. The founders recognized the need for a program that was specifically tailored for younger girls in the middle school years. It was our desire to create an environment that was as normal as possible where they can be kids and also get the assistance they need to guide them through the challenges they faced in their young lives.

It is our mission to provide an environment that allows young girls to reconnect and build hope with their families, establish and maintain academic success and gain the skills to thrive as a healthy young lady.

The main building was originally a bed and breakfast and day spa. This beautiful location, nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains just outside Asheville, NC, provides a calm and tranquil setting where our girls can focus on the work they need to do to build relationships, re-examine and rethink their perceptions of this world, and recognize and appreciate the opportunities life holds for them.

At Lake House Academy, we’ve grown to understand the complex family dynamic. We provide an intimate, family-like environment where each girl is honored for her skills, strengths and individual personality. We help her find her voice.

In 2016, we opened our new school house on campus. At Lake House Academy, we address each girl’s therapeutic, academic and life-skills needs with a carefully integrated approach in an intimate home-like setting. While your daughter is going through her own healing and rebuilding, we know she needs a safe place that can meet all of her needs. Lake House Academy provides guidance, education, compassion, safety, accountability, protection, fun and love.
